Monster Hunter Rise: How to Eat (2024)

Food plays an important role in Monster Hunter Rise, as it can be used to get buffs prior to hunts and to restore stamina during them. Fortunately, it is not particularly difficult to eat in Monster Hunter Rise, though more details on this gameplay mechanic may still be helpful. This guide is here to provide those details so that players can start enjoying food in-game.

Monster Hunter Rise: How to Eat to Get Buffs

Before embarking on a quest, players can activate buffs by eating food. To do this, fans should visit the Canteen in Monster Hunter Rise's Kamura Village. Players will find this establishment near the stairs that lead to Fugen the Elder, and they will be prompted to interact with the Canteen when they approach the blue cushions at its low table.

Upon sitting at the Canteen, players should opt to eat a meal and then choose to pay with either money or points. Fans should then select Order Bunny Dango and choose three flavors before confirming their order. Notably, the buff that a selected Dango in Monster Hunter Rise can provide is indicated below the various flavors, and the chance that its buff will activate is displayed next to the Dango stack that appears on the left-side of the screen.

After a player has eaten at the Canteen, they will see a Dango icon within the quest departure pane in the top-left corner of the screen. This icon serves as an easy way to confirm that food buffs are active before leaving Kamura Village, though all is not lost if a fan departs before they have eaten. Indeed, it is possible to eat at the camps that are accessible during a hunt, and players should simply interact with the camps' tents to initiate that process.

Monster Hunter Rise: How to Eat to Restore Stamina

As Monster Hunter Rise players engage in combat, they are sure to notice that their maximum stamina is steadily being reduced. To counteract this, fans should plan to consume things like Rations and Well-Done Steaks during their hunts, and those food items can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Collect them from the camp item boxes.
  • Use the Motley Mix service at the Canteen to create them from Raw Meat and other monster parts.
  • Use the BBQ Spit to cook Raw Meat.

Once a player has obtained some Rations or Well-Done Steaks in Monster Hunter Rise, they can select and consume the item by using the inputs that appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen when on a hunt. Alternatively, these can be selected directly from the radial menu to quickly restore the player character's stamina.
