Pictures may have taken before the movie, or (much more probable) they made more than two ML. When you see one (or N cars) in a movie, they usually have lots of identical (or nearly) cars for use, especially when they have to destroy them.

The Mercedeses in this film was refered to as Mercedes-Benz AAV(All Activity Vehicle), probly because this still was such a new SUV at the time. Allthough i don`t understand why the bumpers look like they do in this movie! But it`s probably some kind of armour.

It shall be good, I've heard. Have you seen the 300 SEL 6.3 [W109]? It's license-plate (H-SL 824) is a present from me.

I believe the "truck" or "convertible" version is in the Mercedes Benz Museum in Rastatt, Germany. Here is a picture.
If you're using Google Image Search, you need to copy the URL for the image on the site where it appears. The "lh3.ggpht.com" link will not work for other users.
When did you donate it? My other favourites in the museum were Arnold Scwharzaneggers S600 W140

It was in May 2007. A friend of mine has controlled, that it was mounted at the 6.3. Only for that car I gave the plates, my father had in 1978-1980 at his 1973 VW Passat - 27 years they were hanging in my room.
The other old-style licence-plates, you could see in that museum, were also given by us license-plate collectors.

Here are some more pictures I found of the convertible version of the ML. They are pretty cool pictures. To bad they don't have an interior shot.

There is a scene in the film showing these Merc's having manual transmissions. Did US spec versions of the ML ever get manual 'boxes?
ok two things i dont understand about these cars...
1. why does the SUV version have that random bar on the front passenger side 2. why does the pickup truck completely open in the back...like come on especially in the raining scene with all the windows are open!! whats the deal with that?!?

Do you think that ML they used could actually pull that Fleetwood RV out?
camo_rvs_rock
◊ 2011-02-07 04:31
I would think no because the weight of the rv would lift the ml up and the mud wouldn't give it enouf grip

Does anyone know where exactly each of the 3 are? I'm assuming there are several at the Universal Parks? Or are those fake markups, like the Explorer from JP1?
The Matey
◊ 2011-03-11 04:19
1. The "bar" on the side is a snorkel so it can drive through deep water with out the engine flooding with water. 2. its just the design to haul more cargo, he left the windows down because he probably didn't care I'm guessing

I believe the real ones are at the mercedes museum,The one at the universal studios in cali is a mock up you can tell because the paint is off, and the one @ universal Florida is also a mock up I think they have 2 truck versions there.

One was an observatory, one was meant to be a laboratory and I believe one was a convertible. Two are on display in Universal Studios, 1 in Orlando and 1 in California. The laboratory car is currently at the mercedes benz museum in Stuttgart. Here's a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH9NTOEcj_8

Wait a second how can this be a 98 mercedes when the movie came out in 97 and even at that they started filming in 96 so how can this be a 98
Ingo

Because they were pre-productions-cars, given by Mercedes Benz. You should hope to spot something like that somewhere, somehow. It can bring you real money, as for example /vehicle_2423-Mercedes-Benz-E-500-W211-2002.html

The 1998 Mercedes-Benz ML (W163) had permanent four-wheel drive featuring a two-speed dual range BorgWarner 4409 transfer case with open center differential.
Noted for introducing the first application of four-wheel electronic traction control. Since the torque of ML’s engine was fed to all four wheels through a system of three open-type differentials, 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS) as Mercedes called it, was used to "simulate" front, center, and rear differential locks by way of ABS brake locking any of the four wheels.
The ML 320’s four-wheel electronic traction control can actually be seen working in the movie, where it is "portrayed" as pulling the Fleetwood motorhome. A keen eye can pick out the change in the wheel-speed as the wheels are braked by the traction control system.

Nobody Seems to notice that the Mercedes they show driving behind the trailer when they first get to the island is different then the one they show sitting at the campsite or pulling the trailers up over the cliff. The one in the driving scene Roof Lights are different and its missing the tool boxes mounted on the sides.

The one in the Mercedes-Museum isn't a car from the movie. Fixing the parts on a random ML came cheaper than restoring the whole car. During the process they noticed that several parts didn't fit, as preproduction-cars partly differented from the regular ones. Also, the one in the museum is only a mock-up, as it has no engine.

The cars were sadly not used that much in the movie so I think that they should get just 3 stars
Their purpose was to be able to drive and navigate throughout the island for the gatherers' purpose of transporting equipment such as cameras and items for studying dinosaurs. Both of the vehicles were 1997 Mercedes ML 320s.
In addition to the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, the summer blockbuster Jurassic World also features the Mercedes-Benz Unimog. The Unimog is an extremely durable and agile heavy truck that “plays the role” of a dinosaur ambulance in the movie.
What happened to the girl who was attacked at the beginning of the film? Young Cathy Bowman (Camilla Belle) was attacked by a group of Compsognathus triassicus (aka "Compys"). However, Hammond assures Ian that she is just fine now.
The infant was then later recaptured by the Hunters at the conclusion of the Isla Sorna Incident of 1997, and was shipped to the new Jurassic Park in San Diego, California via Peter Ludlow's jet. Ian and Sarah later arrived at the facility to find and retrieve him during his father's rampage.
The Rex superseded the R-2 as Subaru's kei car, and has been available in commercial use versions as well as in a passenger car version. It underwent major changes in 1976, in fall 1981, and again in late 1986. The second generation Rex (1981–1986) also formed the basis for the larger Subaru Justy.
In the movie, the Mercedes G-Class is used by game warden Owen Grady (actor Chris Pratt). The Unimog is used as a dinosaur ambulance, and the G63 AMG 6x6 and several Sprinter models are used for park logistics and the ACU team, a rapid-response task force that handles incidents.
Claire Dearing owned a Mercedes Benz GLE Coupe for her official use as park manager of Jurassic World. She drove the car to reach Owen Grady's Bungalow. Later, she drove with him to the Indominus rex Paddock.
Unfortunately, they didn't know the correct dosage and gave him too much. What happened after this is uncertain, but evidence suggests the Tyrannosaurus broke free of his harness and attacked and killed most of the crew before being locked in the hold by one of the final men, who was fatally wounded.
All of the Tour Vehicles in the film version were 1992 Ford Explorer XLTs, but only two were in operation during the Jurassic Park Incident, on their first real test run of the park. It took visitors on a tour throughout Jurassic Park, passing by the different dinosaur paddocks of the park.
