Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) handled 42 million passengers in 2019, with almost 10% of that traffic coming from international flights.
For such a busy airport, it’s not that big, covering just 1,700 acres (the second-smallest footprint of the 20 busiest U.S. airports).
BOS is a transatlantic hub for Delta Air Lines and a focus city for JetBlue.

BOS Airport Terminals
Boston Logan International Airport consists of 4 terminals — A, B, C, and E — which are situated at the north, south, and east points of the airport.
A loop leads off from I-90, providing vehicle access to all of the terminals and parking garages that are located opposite the terminals.
The terminals are all connected by walkways, some within the secure area and some outside of the secure area.
Terminal A
Level 2 — Ticketing and Gates
Delta Air Lines and WestJet operate flights at Terminal A from both the main terminal and a satellite concourse connected to the main terminal by an underground walkway.
Terminal A’s main building has 11 gates numbered A1 to A11, a few shops and restaurants, and a Delta Sky Club.
SatelliteConcourse
The satellite terminal is accessible through a long underground tunnel with moving walkways. The satellite terminal has 10 gates numbered A13 to A22.
The concourse has a good selection of shops and restaurants mostly located at the entrance of the concourse, including a Starbucks and duty-free store, and a Delta Sky Club can be found before reaching gate A18.
Level 1 — Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation
Terminal A arrivals are on the lower level with access to ground transportation outside.
Terminal B
Level 2 — Check-in and Gates
Terminal B operates domestic flights only and has a U-shaped layout with parking inside of the U and departure gates around the outside.
Terminal B has 39 gates numbered B1 to B12, B14 to B31, B31A, B32 to B35, B35A, and B36 to B40. The terminal has 2 security checkpoints depending on whether passengers are departing from the north or south side.
An American Airlines Admirals Club is based on the south side of the terminal and a United Club is on the northeast side. The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club is located near gates B39 and B40. Both sides have a good selection of shops and restaurants, including 2 Legal Sea Foods, 3 Starbucks, and 3 Dunkin’.
Level 1 — Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation
Ground transportation is available on the lower level, outside of both the north and south sides of the terminal. Some services are curbside and others require passengers to use the crossing into the central reservation.
Terminal C
Level 2 — Ticketing and Gates
Terminal C operates domestic and international flights and is an X shape, with the ticketing area in the center and departure gates along the 4 legs.
Terminal C has 31 gates numbered C8 to C12, C14 to C34, C36, and E1, E1A, E2, and E3. Shops and restaurants are located all over Terminal C departures, so you won’t need to stray far to grab a bite before your flight, and The Lounge is located in the northwest leg.
Level 1 — Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation
Arrivals are on the lower level of Terminal C, as well as access to ground transportation services.
Terminal E
Levels 2 and 3 — Ticketing and Gates
Terminal E is the main international terminal at BOS.
Ticketing is located on level 3 of Terminal E, along with departure gates E4 to E12. The other 4 gates — E1, E1A, E2, and E3 — are located on the second level in the connector to Terminal C.
The terminal has 2 security checkpoints — 1 located in the central area of the terminal, and the other is located in the connector to Terminal C. There are plenty of shops and restaurants dotted around the concourse, with just a few located in pre-security.
Opposite gate E11 are elevators that lead to lounges for British Airways, Lufthansa, Emirates, and Virgin Atlantic.
Level 1 — Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation
Arrivals are on the lower level of Terminal E with access to ground transportation services.

From a convenience standpoint, it’s hard to do better than the Hilton Boston Logan Airport. The hotel is attached to the airport via an enclosed walkway, so you can walk from your gate to the check-in desk. Guests can use the business center, indoor pool and gym, and a 24-hour shuttle service to the subway and water taxi. For award nights, keep in mind that Hilton no longer publishes an award chart and uses a dynamic pricing model for all of its hotels. With that said, you can often redeem a free night at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport from around 39,000 points per night.
The Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel is just a short drive from the airport and is located in one of Boston’s most popular areas, the Seaport District. The hotel offers great water views of the harbor and is within walking distance of great restaurants, the TD Garden, the Boston Convention, and the Exhibition Center. With Marriott Bonvoy’s dynamic pricing, the points needed will largely depend on the time of year that you visit but are around 44,000 points per night.
The Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor offers breathtaking views of the harbor and city skyline. The hotel offers a complimentary airport shuttle for added convenience. The hotel is a short walk from some of Boston’s most famed historical sites, dining options, and public transit options like the MBTA Train and Water Taxi. Final Thoughts
Although passenger numbers at BOS have yet to bounce back to pre-pandemic levels, this major Massachusetts airport has seen steady passenger traffic increases in 2021 and 2022.
Construction work has started on various projects, though disruption has been minimal. However, BOS warns that passengers will experience disruption over the next 5 years as more significant enhancements are made. This will include projects such as building an airside connection between Terminals B and C, expanding Terminal E, and adding an additional 5,000 parking spaces.
